In Ria Formosa lives the largest community of seahorses in the world.
Here you will have your unique opportunity to observe seahorses in their natural habitat.
The two resident species identified are: the long-nosed seahorse (hippocampus guttulatus), and the short-nosed seahorse (hippocampus hippocampus). However, you can also see other species such as octopuses, cuttlefish and sea cucumbers and you can watch the traditional seafood harvest.
The skipper will be your guide giving you precious information, helping you to identify seahorses during the activity.
This activity is carried out inside the Ria with diving without bottle (only snorkeling equipment: diving mask and breathing tube).
The water is low enough even for people who can not swim. However, you may request a lifejacket.
We will go by boat to the place and with the equipment of snorkeling you will be able to observe the bottom of the Ria and the sea horses.
You will be provided with the equipment to carry out the activity or you can bring your own material.
